Things I Know For Sure

Writing prompt for this week: Things I know for sure:

1. I know if anyone would have asked me 7 years ago if I would let my kids eat chips for breakfast I would have said, "Absolutely NOT!". Today I know that eating chips is a heck of a lot better than eating candy for breakfast. (plus they ARE made with whole grains).
  2. I know if anyone would have asked me 7 years ago if I'd let my kids play video games until their thumbs hurt, I would have said, "Absolutely NOT!". Today I know that playing video games on a day off of school is NOT harmful and actually quite fun.

3. I know for sure that these little creatures are the ABSOLUTE center of my universe, created with ABSOLUTE love by dear hubby and myself.

4. I know for sure that I LOVE to run; that running makes me a better wife, mother, and person in general.
5. I know for sure that what I know for sure can change almost daily, but the love of my family combined with my love of running is what I REALLY know for sure...

Wordless/Wordful Wednesday

500 miles run in these bad boys
I couldn't decide whether I was going to be wordful or wordless, so I'm doing both.  Yesterday on my long run (10 miles), my legs told me I needed to retire my current running shoes...hate that.  Those shoes(on the outside) look somewhat new and still in good condition.  And then I started calculating the miles that I've run in those shoes(at least 500).  Crap, time for new running shoes.

Still my all time favorites, and still upset that Nike discontinued these...so I'm rebelling and going with

      these...
Adidas, you better not let me down

On another note, the kids are on spring break (not "SPRING BREAK 2011 WOOHOO PARTY!!!), but spring break (wonderful to have them home all week, we get to spend quality family time together). We ventured to the park, even though it was a bit chilly (notice hats and mittens).  And we....tune in this weekend for more "Adventures in Spring Break 2011" (I'm so corny, seriously).

Impossible to get all 4 smiling at the same time(notice crying baby)

First trip(of many, many, many) to the park

Thirty-Day French Fry Challenge

Hi, I'm Jen, and I'm a french fryaholic. I love fries, with their golden delicious, just the right amount of salt, hot fresh goodness(my taste buds are dancing and my mouth is watering as I type). According to "the experts", fast food is an addiction(no kidding). With swimsuit season right around the corner,(and a few extra holiday pounds still lingering on my hips), I figure now would be a great time to see if I can give up fries for 30 days. Also, I think it may improve my running. I used to believe in the saying, "I run to eat". But I gave that up a couple of years ago for a healthier saying, "I eat to run". I try to eat a balanced diet of fruits, veggies, lean meats, and sweets(with milk of course). But those darn fries get me every day. So, my super-new saying is, "NO FRIES FOR 30 DAYS!".

I can do this.

If you had to give something up for 30 days, what would it be?

P.S. My 7.5 mile run only took me 65 minutes today. And it's almost time for a new pair of running shoes(crap-we all know how I HATE that).

Friday Faves: All Things Grey's...

Anyone who knows me, and knows me well, knows that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Grey's Anatomy.  I never miss an episode.  It is the one T.V. show that I think is worthy of having (every single season) on DVD and rewatching on a regular basis.  So here are a few of my Grey's Faves:
1. The men (SOOO HOT).
2. The music. Most of the tunes shuffle through my MP3 player and have helped me through many a long run.
3. The men (did I already say that?).  Especially Patrick Dempsey-(will you marry me? oh you already have a wife and me a husband? I've loved you since "Can't Buy Me Love"!!)-I know dear hubby takes no offense to my Patrick Dempsey obsession-he has his own list.
4. The story lines. They always make me laugh, and cry, and gasp out loud, and makes me want MORE! More new episodes, please!
5. My list could go on and ON and ON!! But I will bore you no more, I LOVE GREY'S ANATOMY!

And a quick update of my running log: Saturday-7 miles, Monday-7 miles, Wednesday-7 miles, and Thursday (my long run)-9 miles.

Don't forget to hop over to TutorMommy's blog to see what her Friday Faves are.

Spring Cleaning...Katelyn Style

Writing prompt for this week:  Spring Cleaning! Share a before and after photo of a room you recently tackled.

Spring cleaning might not be happening for us this year, as I struggle just to keep up with the day to day chores.
Laundry pile on a GOOD day
Cute little helper, isn't she?

Clean, folded, & ready to be put away

And this took place WHILE folding laundry
Oh, and that picture of the dirty clothes? It was snapped at the same time as the picture of the clean ones.  And right now as I type this, both the washer and dryer are going. So why am I not putting the clean clothes away? Well, my trusty little helper, Katelyn is taking a nap at this very moment, which means it's a great time to sit for a few minutes and type this.  And while we're on the subject of Katelyn, this was her last night as Anna was getting her clean pajamas:
OH
WHAT

FUN!!
Ok, those were my before shots, here's the after.

And here's my trusty helper putting the dishes away.

Trying to make a clean getaway

So, as you can see, spring cleaning may not be in my future. But what fun is that anyway?

It's way more fun to play with her!

AND THEM!

Wordless Wednesday

In the words of my 4 year old, "Can we put up our middle finger to the snow?".
.
  .
    .
OF COURSE I SAID, "NO."-(out loud).  Inside I was thinking, we can DEFINITELY PUT UP OUR MIDDLE FINGER TO THE SNOW!!!!!
P.S. My kids do NOT know what the middle finger even means. (No judging allowed, please).
