Again, with the shoes.
If any of you have been reading this blog for a while, you know how much I HATE buying new running shoes. A new KIND of running shoes that is.
Once I find a pair of running shoes that I love(and by love I mean I don't have to get the special inserts to put IN the shoes to correct my "wrong form" that causes shin splints), I buy two pairs at a time...in different colors of course. And I just keep buying them...why change a good thing when you've found it?
Yes, I'm trying to hold back the tears as I write this...because these shoes have been discontinued by Nike. DISCONTINUED, I tell you!! How dare they?? Nike Air Tri-D II. It's so sad I remember the exact style. I ran over 500 miles in these before I broke down and bought a new pair. My new ones...I'm still not loving. And so I got another pair...once again, not loving. And I'm back to having to wear the shoe inserts...so I don't get shin splints...because me and shin splints don't mix.
I was so upset about Nike discontinuing my shoes, that I wrote them a letter...
Dear Nike,
Why did you have to discontinue the running shoes I have been wearing for the past 2 years? As a runner I appreciate the fact that once I find a good pair of shoes that I love, I just buy the same style (in a different color of course). Do you really think I have time to research what kind of shoe is right for the mileage I run, and the fact that I overpronate? Running shoes aren't like cars, I can't take them out for a test-run and bring them back if I don't like them. Yes, I can run around the store like a dork, which I did, to see if they might be comfortable, but come on. As it turns out, I will most likely continue to buy your shoes, because I think I like the pair I bought, although I won't know for certain until I dirty them up with my sweat, dirt, and sometimes even my blood.
Sincerely, Runnermom-Jen
I don't understand why they didn't respond.
This week we want you to take a picture of your favorite pair of shoes (or a pair of shoes with a story) and tell the story of those shoes. Where have they been? Where will they take you? Let the shoes do the talking!
